Joe Kaliko, founder of the Greenwich-based nonprofit The Needs Clearing House, was honored during a farewell tribute in Bridgeport on June 23rd. Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez, Mayor Joe Ganim, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, and The Building Hope Foundation Inc were all in attendance at the ceremony. Building Hope Foundation will be taking over sponsorship of the Needs Clearing House Inc's "Pizza Nights" program for the homeless and Music Therapy sessions for an autistic girl, both in Bridgeport, effective immediately. Each month the The Building Hope Foundation Inc. supplies pizza meals to over 300 people: The first Thu. of each month to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, both to the main facility and the women’s shelter. They feed homeless/needy. The third Sun. of each month at the John St. bridge underpass. The Helping Hands Outreach group distributes to homeless who line up there. The third Fri. of each month to the Disability Resource Network, at both their Bridgeport and Derby locations, as a treat to their clients. The DRN works with children and adults with disabilities and helps them to achieve independent living.

The Building Hope Foundation Inc.responded to a request from The Needs Clearing House Inc. to help a seven-year-old girl suffering from a rareform of muscular dystrophy. The Needs Clearing House has been arranging for the purchase of or the commitment to donate more than $4,000 worth of durable medical supplies including braces for her legs and back. The Building Hope Foundation was among the charitable foundations assisting with this cause with a donation of $1,500.
Aannouncing the completion of the The Building Hope Foundation Inc. project for Kids in Crisis: a bluestone walkway and ramp to provide safer access and entrance. Much appreciation for the contributions from vendors Devine Brothers Inc, and Reyes Masonry. Moving forward, Building Hope Foundation will function in a volunteer consulting capacity for Kids in Crisis.
